It all started as one person's daft idea to get motivated for some exercise while sat in front of the TV one night. The next day at work, one quickly became three as two more thought it might be entertaining. Little did they know of the "entertainment" ahead. The three of us are Simon Parker, Patrick Hargreaves & Nigel Lee, three colleagues from Yorkshire Water.

After a couple of months of training and well over £2000 spent in various Yorkshire bicycle shops, the daft idea became reality on the 5th October 2006 when we set of from a rainy Whitehaven for the 3 and a half day ride to Sunderland.

You can read our account of the eventful trip on the following pages and view all the photographs we took on the way.
